Blake Mycoskie of Toms Shoes

In the following video clip, filmed two years ago, the entrepreneur Blake Mycoskie speaks after being introduced by former President Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative.  Mycoskie founded Toms shoes after spending time with children in the third world who had no shoes.  Toms was born out of his compassion for those children, and children like them in all parts of the world.  Shoes are not just decorative clothing, but indeed something of a necessity, particularly in parts of the world where public sanitation is not sufficient.  Children walking barefoot through sewage, brackish water, and the surrounding grounds can become infected with parasites and disease.

I am a firm believer that to have the body that you want you have to work for it.  I am talking about serious hard work like eating healthy and working out…a lot.  Most people understand that this is how you look a certain way.  When you are toned and shaped, then you also feel better and confident.  That is a wonderful feeling that everyone should experience, but not everyone will be able to.  Unless there were shoes that would do most of the work so you could just go on walking and they could give you awesome legs like Brooke Burke or a tush like Kim Karsdashian.

My husband is a wonderful man.  He has a warm heart and a great smile.  He is not an unfashionable guy and he likes shopping, but his wardrobe is pretty much just dress slacks and golf shirts.  I am okay with that, I mean he does work at a golf course.  The thing is his shoes are just awful.  He has always just bought a pair of work shoes from a cheap show store and worn them until they get holes in them.  I am a bit of a shoe snob so this has bothered me for some time.  Luckily, this all changed just yesterday.

The Shoe Deception!

I recently suffered one of the most disappointing moments in the realm of shopping: I ordered the most fantastic pair of shoes online and then when they arrived, I put them on and was completely let down.  What is it about the way shoes appear in a picture online that is so different from the way they look in real like???  Obviously finding the right size and width can be an issue, but I’m talking style and sexiness.  The right heel height, the right shape and the proper fit are deceiving on a screen no matter what detail of description is provided from the manufacturer and distributor.  Is there a better way to figure out what’s hot and what’s not other than the primal technique of trial and error?
